BIOGRAPHY


Eva Miquel (Barcelona, 1970) has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. Her proposals materialize at this stage of maturity through drawing, a discipline in which she was a finalist in the 2021 Ynglada-Guillot International Drawing Prize. However, video and photography have also been languages explored in her career.

Miquel’s recent presentations include the solo exhibition “Mutismos” at the Palmadotze Gallery in 2019, and the participation in SWAB, Barcelona where she received  two Acquisition Awards. In the same year, her work was part of the exhibition "Paisajes líquidos" at La Pedrera Espacio Kreatiu (Subirats, Barcelona). In 2014 she presented the drawing project "A Escala 1: 1000" at Untitled BCN and in 2012 she exhibited in the Contemporary Creation Space of Cádiz "De ida ... yuelta", a group exhibition curated by Ignacio Cabrero. In 2006 she presented "Desdendins" and in 2003 "Apnea", both solo shows at Palmadotze Gallery.

She has also shown her work during the Art Fairs ARCO (Madrid, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007), Artissima (Turin, Italy, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005) and DFoto (San Sebastián, 2005, 2007). In 2005 Miquel was a finalist in the video art competition "Ingenio 400. IV Centenario del Quijote" and received an honorable mention in the "Generación 2005" Award. These awards are in addition to others such as the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation Grant (Mallorca 2001), the Casa de Velázquez Grant (Ministry of Culture, Madrid 2001), the Residency-Scholarship in Vienna (Austrian Ministry of Culture, Vienna 2001 ) or the AECA Award (Spanish Association of Art Critics) for the best set of works presented at the ESTAMPA Fair, Madrid, 2000. She has participated in LOOP (Barcelona, 2005), the FIB-Art (Festival Internacional de Benicassim, Castellón, 2007 and 2003) and the Observatory (Valencia, 2003).

In March 2020 she presented the publication Desde El Agua by the publisher Zahorí Books and in collaboration with the Red Cross, where her most recent drawings on the stories of Migrants are included. 

During 2020 he received the Sorigué Foundation Acquisition Award - SWAB Art Fair and during 2021 she received the Carmen y Lluís Bassat Foundation Acquisition Award - SWAB Art Fair, the VEGAP Grant, Barcelona and the JUNCEDA Award in the adult and children's non-fiction book category with the publication Desde El Agua.

Miquel’s works are part of important public and private collections, including the Lluís Coromina Foundation (Girona), the Carmen y Lluís Bassat Foundation, (Barcelona), the Sorigué Foundation (Lleida) and the Caja Madrid Foundation (Madrid).
